Anyone know where the destination is and if big Al's convoy guidelines are to be followed. I see we have a page on Facebook with no activity on it who is running the page?

For drive it day I went to Forrestburn hillclimb home of Monklands Sporting Car Club. The Flying Scotsman Rally had a stage there this afternoon. I had never been to this hillclimb it's in the middle of nowhere with virtually no facilities though the toilets were clean. Thankfully it stayed dry.

I didn't manage the run to Inveraray, but took the mg out to Alva to see my son jack in a canoe competition. On the way to Alloa the steam train "Union of South Africa" passed me.

The last time I saw the Union of South Africa I was about 14 and it was at Crewe station. So that's 50 years ago!!
Yes I was a train spotter, something I don't often admit!!
Still, I was only young.

Don't think they had anoraks 50 years ago so what did you wear Phil, was it a duffle coat, balaclava and mittens joined with a piece of wool??

Do you know Willie I can't remember.
I do remember mittens joined with a bit of wool & duffle coats, did have one of those!
Always remember the thing being a bit heavy which was no use at all as we used to cross the tracks to sneak into
the train sheds. It was ok until you were spotted & then we had to run like hell!
At one time I was actually banned from Crewe station. I was quite often 'collared' and put on the next train back to Chester.
See there was a hard edge to train spotting!!

PS. Never had a balaclava.

Our neighbours, the Strathendrick Club did well on Drive it Day, with over 80 Classics.
Well done to Joe Norman ( Ex SDCCC Member ) for all this.
Two of our members took part, a Datsun and a Toyota
Looks like they have a Very good Photographer ;) to get on the front page and page 4 of the Observer
Mabe we could do Runs some time with the Strathendrick Mob and the new Club ,Billy and aye have Started in Kirkie.
The Oban Car Club, are looking for the SDCCC to meet them once again up near Oban, mabe we could do that in one of our Sunday Runs. ;)
